FARO DE VIGO holds the distinction of being the oldest newspaper in Spain, first published on November 3, 1853, by its founder, Don Angel de Lema y Marina, in his printing workshop located on Calle de la Oliva in Vigo. The publication was established with the intention of "supporting the interests of Galicia."
